The newly-appointed Vice President for Academics for the College of Medicine started his new job assignment with a meet and greet gathering with the non-teaching staff under the VP Acad Office at the MHAM AVR 7 last May 9, 2018.
Former Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine, Dr. Roy J. Entienza, formally took the designation last May 2 and initiated the aforementioned gathering among his staff with a hearty lunch.
Current Dean, Dr. Ma. Socorro Manaloto; AVP for Administration, Mr. Francisco Bacalla; HR Director, Mr. Pedro Pañares; and Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Georadelia Lungay also graced the ‘getting to know you’ gathering along with twenty-four staff who introduced themselves to the new VP.
Embracing and accepting the new challenges as the new VP for Academics, Dr. Entienza expressed his sentiments in his speech with particular points to ponder for a healthy and productive workmanship.
“With all the changes and happiness in life, I think it’s worthwhile for me to start by knowing each other one by one. I do not seek to this new job assignment but this is always just a part of our job. I really need your trust and cooperation and I’ll be asking you to give me an update of your work. We are one in this institution and as one we will succeed”, said the newly-appointed VP in his speech.
In addition, the new VP also stressed out some important points to increase effectiveness and efficiency in work such as time management, good manners, and professionalism especially that most of the staff are frontliners.
With the future most promising, the MHAM non-teaching staff will be growing in numbers especially that the institution has applied for BS in Biology, BS in Medical Technology, BS in Environmental Science Major in Disaster Management, Bachelor of Laws and Juris Doctor. “We are all MHAM and as brave as we can, let’s show the world that we are not afraid to face our battles”, Dr. Entienza concluded.
To help and support the new VP, the current College Dean also delivered a noteworthy statement for a better MHAM during the said gathering. “With everybody’s effort then we will actually be able to achieve what we want for MHAM. Of course there will be steps along the way with protocol and professionalism”, Dr. Manaloto said.
Meanwhile the Assistant Vice President for Administration, Mr. Francisco Bacalla, also explained that former VP for Academics, Dr. Arlene Diaz, will become the new VP for Academics for the incoming MHAM COLLEGE INC. as the institution has applied for the aforementioned allied courses.
“As a background MHAM will be having two companies; one is the MHAM College of Medicine, Inc. and the other will be the MHAM COLLEGE INC. and as per CHED requirement we need to have two VP for the two colleges. Thus, Dr. Roy Entienza is now the VP for Academics for the MHAM College of Medicine, Inc. while Dr. Arlene Diaz will become the VP-Acad for the MHAM COLLEGE INC.”, Mr. Bacalla said.
With its direction to move to the new building in Banawa, Cebu City hopefully this year, the AVP for Admin also added that the official address for the MHAM College of Medicine, Inc. will be at the Ground Floor, Matias H. Aznar II Memorial School of Medicine Building, R. Duterte St., Banawa, Guadalupe, Cebu City. The College of Medicine will be occupying the ground, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th floors while the 6th floor will house the state-of-the-art medical library with 24-hour non-stop service known as the Learning Commons.
The official address for the MHAM COLLEGE INC. on the other hand, will be at the Mezzanine Floor, Matias H. Aznar II Memorial School of Medicine Building, R. Duterte St., Banawa, Guadalupe, Cebu City. The new college will be occupying the 7th, 8th and 9th floors while the 10th floor will become an activity center with a basketball court.
The meet and greet gathering ended with a hearty lunch offered by the new VP who believes that collaboration and teamwork becomes a strength.
